6.02 Ainsi en venons-nous aux nombres : je définis

Conformément à ces règles de signes nous écrivons donc la série [math]\displaystyle{ x, \Omega ' x, \Omega ' \Omega ' x, \Omega ' \Omega ' \Omega ' x, ... }[/math]

de cette manière : [math]\displaystyle{ \Omega^{0 \prime} x, \Omega^{0+1 \prime} x, \Omega^{0 + 1 + 1 \prime} x, \Omega^{0 + 1 + 1 + 1 \prime} x, ... }[/math]

J'écris donc, au lieu de « [math]\displaystyle{ [ x, \xi, \Omega ' \xi ] }[/math] » :

« [math]\displaystyle{ [ \Omega^{0 \prime} x, \Omega^{ \nu \prime} x, \Omega^{ \nu + 1 \prime} x ] }[/math] ».

Et je définis :

[math]\displaystyle{ 0 + 1 = 1 \text{ Déf.} }[/math]

[math]\displaystyle{ 0 + 1 + 1 = 2 \text{ Déf.} }[/math]

[math]\displaystyle{ 0 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 \text{ Déf.} }[/math]
